Generative Artificial Intelligence
The Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy of Jurnal Ranah Komunikasi (JRK) establishes requirements for the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence and other AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation and editorial work. This policy applies to authors, editors, and reviewers and upholds transparency, confidentiality, accuracy, originality, and human accountability.
A. Authors
Authors may use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies to support manuscript preparation, provided that such use complies with publication ethics. Authors must disclose any use of these technologies, identifying the tools used and explaining their purpose and scope in a declaration accompanying the manuscript. Authors must not upload manuscripts, manuscript excerpts, or confidential research materials to AI applications or services. Authors must verify all AI-assisted outputs, including factual statements, references, and citations, and remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscripts. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the work or fulfil authorship requirements.
B. Editors
Editors may use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies to support administrative or language-related tasks, provided that confidentiality and independent editorial judgment are preserved. Any use of these technologies by the editorial team must be disclosed, identifying the tools used and their purpose and scope. The disclosure must be recorded in the editorial record and communicated to affected authors.
Editors must not upload submitted manuscripts, manuscript excerpts, reviewer reports, or confidential editorial materials to AI applications or services. Editors must verify all AI-assisted outputs and remain fully responsible for their work and decisions. All editorial assessments and final decisions must be made by human editors. AI tools must not make acceptance, revision, rejection, correction, or retraction decisions.
C. Reviewers
Reviewers are prohibited from using generative AI or AI-assisted technologies to assess manuscripts or prepare peer-review reports. Reviews must reflect the reviewers’ own reading, expertise, analysis, and scholarly judgment. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts, manuscript excerpts, supplementary files, or review materials to AI applications or services. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of their reviews.
